January 15 – February 28, 2015
Open late 27 February 6-8pm
as part of South London Art Map
Sean Dower opened his residency by transporting a collection of instruments and materials (gathered over many years) in order to experiment with their sound in the acoustic space of Beaconsfield’s Victorian railway arch.
The artist then exhibited this special collection of sound-making ‘tools’ alongside exquisite, on-site recordings of their acoustic properties. The objects and their sounds inhabited the space uncannily, whilst the performer remained absent.
During the second part of the residency, Dower focused on recording the three dimensional audio-space of a performance made together with Eben Bull and Rupert Clervaux. For the closing event, the spatial acoustic of this performance will be recreated in the arch – Off Air.
Open to the public until 28 February, Wednesday – Saturday, 11am – 5pm.
