The Big Draw at Beaconsfield

a special event as part of the South London Art Map LAST Fridays
Friday 25 October 2013, 6-8pm
In the midst of her exhibition, Phase 4, Judith Dean is inviting all to join her in acts of drawing. Selected drawings (with their creators’ permission) may be used as substitutes within work currently on show. At least in principle…

Since its launch in 2000, The Big Draw has successfully supported the Campaign for Drawing’s aims by encouraging everyone to draw. Big Draw events highlight the power of drawing to help people see, think, invent and take action.

Judith Dean - Phase 4, installation view with The Big Draw, October 2013Judith Dean’s work is concerned with ideas of territory and claiming, value and exchange. During her residency with Beaconsfield since March 2013, the artist has revisited, reconfigured and reconstituted earlier works, developing a new methodology that involves drawing with both images and architecture. Next she’s going to use a pencil.

Judith Dean has exhibited widely – in 2002 she was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize.

The exhibition Judith Dean – Phase 4 will be open for an evening viewing.

This event forms part of the South London Art Map LAST Fridays late openings.
