Station House Opera: Telematics Performance Workshops

Beaconsfield Upper space

Thursday 16 January, 7-9.30pm
Friday 17 January, 2-4.30pm & 7-9.30pm

FREE

Award-winning performance company Station House Opera are using long-distance computerized technology – telematics – to create their new work Dissolved, to be presented at Beaconsfield, London and Sophiensaale, Berlin for three weeks during March 2014.

Dissolved is choreographed to be witnessed only in its entirety online: the product of simultaneous performances in London and Berlin. As one live video-stream in England merges with another in Germany, a new entity is created from the overlapping imagery – one image dissolving into another.

For a limited series of three workshops, Julian Maynard Smith (Artistic Director of Station House Opera) will make the telematic set-up available for performers to play with. Perhaps you’re a performer interested in digital technologies? Perhaps you’re a creator looking at issues of internationalism and long-distance? Perhaps you just fancy a couple of hours to play with what these technologies can hold…

The workshops are free, but places are limited. Please contact edd@artsadmin.co.uk to book your place.

Further workshops about the pragmatic technical set-up of Dissolved will be run by the technical team in March 2014.

Dissolved is a collaboration between Station House Opera, Berlin-based artists Florian Feigl and Christopher Hewitt, with Beaconsfield and Sophiensæle, produced by Artsadmin.
