The text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was recited on 05.11.05 as rights repeated, an act of memory by Monica Ross, as part of Chronic Epoch, Beaconsfield, 14.09.05 – 20.11.05.

This project traces back to the evolution of one of Ross’s major works from first solo act of rights repeated commissioned by Beaconsfield in 2005, which then developed through performances 01-30 into the extensive, collaborative work Anniversary—an act of memory: solo, collective and multi-lingual recitations from memory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, taking place in contexts as diverse as The House of Commons, Brighton Seafront and the Women’s Library, with 200 co-recitors from different communities and professions memorising and publicly reciting articles in over 30 languages.
