Palestinian singer Reem Kelani, born in Manchester and brought up in Kuwait, describes her music as a kind of ‘Palestinian blues’ and is renowned for her interpretation of the Palestinian musical heritage. In the course of her research into traditional forms, she has gathered songs and stories from the Galilee and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to perform in new musical arrangements which have been variously described as ‘electrifying’, ‘feisty’ and ‘charismatic’.
